What are Move Days?
Move Days are our FAVORITE days! Each month, we typically have one, sometimes two Move Days. With the exception of football season (Go Vols!), we schedule our first move always on the Second Saturday of each month. We do all moves simultaneously on Second Saturday. If we have more than three clients that month, we will schedule another Move Day, typically on the Fourth Saturday of the same month. Move Days are crazy fun, as we all converge at once to load up furniture and housewares, usually for three clients. Then we all disperse to our assigned homes and move everything in for these deserving young people. The joy on their faces, the gratitude in their voices…there is nothing like it. They are often overwhelmed, but always humble and grateful for what we provide. We even help put it all away so they are not left in an apartment full of chaos.
How Do I Participate?
If you are interested in helping with a Move Day, please contact us at [email protected], so we will know you are coming. We must know in advance if you plan to attend. And yes, we do give volunteer hours for Move Days.
Where Do I Go?
All moves currently begin at Extra Space Storage 10638 Deerbrook Drive Knoxville TN 37922. Client home locations vary, but all are in Knox County. You must provide your own transportation.
