Originally, First Foundations began strictly as a furniture ministry. Our goal was to help young adults, as they entered their first homes, by providing a bed, a couch, a set of dishes….the basics. We knew that after paying first and last month’s rent and setting up utilities, there was too much month left at the end of the money. So we wanted to relieve the burden of purchasing furniture and housewares so they could concentrate on paying rent. After all, many of us were gifted hand-me-down furnishings for our first homes by family members. Our clients do not have that luxury. But providing them with the things they need to set up a household is where we shine.

However, after many client moves, we have discovered what works well and what does not. We know what is necessary, and what is superfluous in a small apartment with limited space and storage. Those particulars, combined with our own limited storage, have necessitated that we become very specific about which donations we accept, and which donations we choose to pass on, so that you may give to another ministry.

Your gift is tax-deductible. First Foundations is an exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 37-2121189.
